Trip Motivation
In January 2022, we took a weekend trip to Coconut Point to spend some time at a family resort near Naples, FL. This hotel has been on our list for a while and is always highly ranked with other families who love traveling. We had promotional Southwest companion passes and lots of Hyatt points so this trip was very inexpensive! Out of pocket, we paid less than $50 for the flights and hotel! Be sure to read the details of how we paid for this trip here. This was a quick but wonderful relaxing weekend.
Hyatt Regency Coconut Point
We spent 1 night at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point. Total cost was 20k points. This was a HUGE value as nights at this hotel were going for $830 a night. I would never pay that value but I would say $300-$400 is more than fair for all the perks. Considering that you may pay $50 a person for a water-park, these types of resorts have tons of included activities you should consider when looking at the cost. You can earn Hyatt points from Hyatt stays, the Hyatt credit card and Chase points, which can be transferred to Hyatt. Learn more about points here.
Read on to see why we loved this hotel so much and the top 10 things to do with kids at the resort.
1. Lazy river and Pool Time.
My favorite! 3 of the pools were heated!! We spent so much time in the pool. They have zero entry areas, and beautiful landscaping. Ben was able to swim some laps in the adult pool as well. We brought goggles and dive sticks and had a blast. Pro-tip: On the lobby elevators, press P for the pool grotto level. There’s a secret tunnel that leads out to the pools so you don’t have to go through the main building.
2. Water-slide races!
There are 5 slides altogether. Heads up 1 slide for all heights, 2 have a 42″ requirement and 2 have 48″. Ellie was 4 at this visit and just missed the 42″ cutoff. She wasn’t too sad as she loves the pool and had a small slide that she went down 20 times
3. Kid's Club and Arcade:
The club is free during the day with supervision and $ at night to leave them with staff. We took advantage of the evening Camp Hyatt on our stay! $100 per kid 6p-10p and it came with food, snacks, crafts and gratuity. We made a reservation at Tarpon Bay, a fancy delicious seafood restaurant and enjoyed time in the adults only hot tub!
4. Take a 15 minute boat ride to the beach:
Although not beachfront, the hotel had great views of water and it was a quick boat ride to a private beach. This was included as part of our stay. On the way, you can see birds, dolphins, and other wildlife. When you arrive, there are chairs and umbrellas set up for you to play at Hickory beach! It was chilly when we were there but a nice calm beach for littles in warmer days
5. Ice Cream Shop
So much candy and delicious ice cream. You can also pick up s’mores supplies here!
6. Drinks! Pina Coladas Pool-Side!
Virgin with cherries for the littles. At the bar, there was a beer filler that filled the cups from the bottom that the kids loved watching. Encourage your beer-loving parent to drink more beer so you can collect the removable letter magnets from the bottom
7. Eat, Eat, Eat!
Our kiddos loved the omelets from the breakfast buffet at Tanglewood and poolside lunches from corkscrew! On our last day, we enjoyed a seafood buffet with mimosas for the adults! On the evening we dropped the kids at the kid’s club, we enjoyed a nice dinner at Tarpon Bay.
8. All the Activities!
They have a recreation team dedicated to planning fun activities. Read the activity calendar for hourly sports, games, crafts and other fun options. We enjoyed lawn bowling and Bingo! There’s also other outdoor fun: putting green, climbing wall, lawn games like Jenga and ping-pong.
Final Thoughts
This was a quick trip but so much fun! This hotel has been on our list for a while and is always highly ranked with other families who love traveling. We will definitely need a repeat trip during a warmer season soon! Be sure to read the details of how we paid for this trip here. This was a quick but wonderful relaxing weekend.
